Even some of the proposed laws on the Brennan site seem to leave that very important piece out, although the Task Force of Government Ethics (January 28, 2011) did not leave the local piece out (town, counties, cities, etc.). Next, the proposed legislation should include provisions for financial transactions to be posted online, all of them, with no need for anyone to FOIL anything.

Put everything online, beef up ethics boards and make them independent and functional, empower a state agency to investigate, so the FBI doesn't have to do it all, PLUS all the recommendation specific to state officials and legislators using their positions to promote private interests.

In short, there are plenty of good laws out there waiting to be passed but 1) don't forget the local piece and 2) don't forget the internet.glencadiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17867864386772102359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29010340.post-76679432457877316422011-03-13T16:29:47.503-04:002011-03-13T16:29:47.503-04:00If an impartial redistricting committee could be f...If an impartial redistricting committee could be found, the best thing that could happen to our State is drawing geographically reasonable election districts.
